Hi guys ! Here I am with another review. A book I can’t recommend enough , Empty Me Out, written by the amazing Sue Healey !
The story takes place in the US, in the East Coast. We follow two main characters, Kelsey and Mark and how their relationship evolves.
I read it in 2 days, so you know how hooked I was ! Once you start, you can’t put it down. And … between us … get ready for an emotional rollercoaster !
Without spoiling, let’s go through some points of the book
First of all, Sue amazingly writes her characters. We get to know them with the choices they make, and with what goes through their mind – which by the way, creates some fun dialogues ! The characters are so well portrayed, described and I truly believe that we can relate to them, to some parts of their life (student life, loosing a parent, night clubs life …) There is so many things we all can relate to and it makes us enter into the story and be captivated easily.
Then, the plot itself – WOW ! We are thrown into the nightmare of drug and addiction with Mark, and in the world of nightclubs and the dangers of such parties with many characters. The plot is gripping, literally. You want to know what comes next, how characters are going to deal with a problem, how they are going to react. It leaves you wanting for more at every step…
